Hi, I’m Phil.
I got frustrated with the state of casual gaming on mobile, so I built Legitsauce: a small, hand-picked library of browser games with no in-app purchases and no video ads. Then I wanted to play those games on something that fits in a pocket, and I couldn’t buy the device I had in mind. So I started building it.
Legit Circuits is the hardware side of that. It’s where the handhelds, the music player and the circuit boards inside them get designed, printed, soldered, debugged and written up. Eventually it’s where you’ll be able to buy them, too.
What you won’t find here
- No mystery parts. Every build names its chips and modules, and you can order all of them yourself.
- No subscriptions or accounts. A device you buy here works on its own. It doesn’t phone home and doesn’t need an app.
- No locked-down hardware. If it has firmware, you’re allowed to reflash it.
- No vapourware. Nothing goes in the shop until it has been built, tested and used on my own bench.
- No dark patterns. No fake scarcity, no countdown timers, no “only 2 left” banners.
How it’s built
Boards are drawn in KiCad, shells are modelled in OpenSCAD and printed in-house, and firmware is plain C. The build logs on the blog cover what worked and, just as often, what didn’t.
The shop
It isn’t open yet. When it opens, expect kits, bare boards and printed shells for the builds you see here, each sold with a parts list so you can always build your own instead.
